How a remodeling project with HomePro works

Most of the stress in a remodel comes from not knowing what happens next. This is the whole process, in order, as it actually runs on a HomePro job in Cary, Apex, Holly Springs, Fuquay-Varina or Raleigh. You deal with one person, owner Chris Muragas, from the first call to the last walkthrough.

1. First call

You call (919) 758-3683 or send the contact form. Chris calls you back to talk through what you want done, roughly when, and a realistic budget range, so the first visit is useful rather than a sales pitch.

2. In-home consultation and measurements (free)

Chris comes to the house, measures the space, looks at what is behind the walls, under the floor and in the attic or crawlspace, and talks through layout options, materials and what they tend to cost. If the project is not a good fit, or if there is a cheaper way to get what you want, he says so.

3. Selections

You choose cabinets, counters, tile, fixtures, lighting and hardware. Chris tells you what to look for, which showrooms to visit, and where spending more actually shows. Nothing is ordered until you have approved every selection.

4. Written proposal and schedule

You get an itemized proposal covering scope, your selections, allowances, and a start date and expected duration. Change orders, if any come up, are written and priced before the work happens. No verbal surprises.

5. Permits and ordering

HomePro files any permit the job needs with your town’s inspections office (Cary, Apex, Holly Springs, Fuquay-Varina and Raleigh each run their own) and orders cabinets, tile and fixtures so everything is on hand before demolition starts.

6. Demolition and rough-in

The old kitchen or bathroom comes out, walls open if the layout is changing, and plumbing and electrical are roughed in by licensed trades and inspected. The work area is protected, dust is contained, and the site is cleaned at the end of every day.

7. Build and finish

Cabinets are set and leveled, showers are waterproofed and tiled, counters are templated and installed, then flooring, lighting, fixtures, glass, trim and paint. Chris is on site through this stage.

8. Final walkthrough

We go through the finished space together with a punch list. Anything that is not right gets fixed before we call it done and before the final payment.
